Please allow me to introduce myself...

I'm a 24 year old English major from New Jersey, currently finishing up graduate school and pursuing a career as a writer. I originally imagined Calanthe's Nightingale as a fashion inspiration blog, but it's quickly grown to encompass much more. Here, you'll find posts relating to eighteenth and nineteenth century art; historical fashion; baroque, rococo, and Victorian aesthetics; Romantic and Victorian literature, especially Gothic literature; historically inspired fashions and street fashions, such as lolita, dolly kei, mori girl, otome, aristocrat, and dandy fashion; nature; romantic imagery; and occasional bursts of childhood nostalgia. I don't necessarily consider this to be a personal blog; however, since this is the only blog I maintain, you may come across an out-of-theme post every now and then.
