William Powell Frith - A Private View at the Royal Academy - 1881

Frith found a very large canvas was necessary to contain the amount of celebrities and intellectuals his composition required. Including the painter Frederic Leighton (upper left) but most importantly everyone’s favorite person OSCAR WILDE with his ladykilling hat. You go, Oscar.
